The Ensembl Genomes Project is pleased to announce release 9 of <a
href="http://www.ensemblgenomes.org/">Ensembl
Genomes</a> <br>
<br>
The main highlights of this release are:<br>
<br>
* Software migration to Ensembl 62<br>
<br>
* 2 new genomes added to <a
href="http://protists.ensembl.org/index.html">Ensembl Protists</a>,
the plant pathogen <em>Pythium ultimum </em>and the kinetoplastid
parasite<em>
Leishmania <br>
major.<br>
<br>
* </em>3 new ascomycete genomes added to <a
href="http://fungi.ensembl.org/index.html">Ensembl Fungi</a>. <em>Fusarium
oxysporum,
</em><em>Gibberella moniliformis, </em><em></em>a
pathogenic fungus that <br>
causes ear and stalk rot in maize <em></em>and <em>Gibberella zeae,
</em>responsible for headblight disease in wheat. <br>
Also, for protists, a complete new build for <em>Saccharomyces
cerevisiae</em> to reflect the latest assembly from <a
href="http://www.yeastgenome.org/">SGD</a>.<br>
<br>
* African rice genome, <i>Oryza glaberrima</i>, added to <a
href="http://plants.ensembl.org/index.html">Ensembl Plants</a>.<br>
<br>
* <i>Daphnia pulex, </i>the most common species of water flea and the
first crustacean to be sequenced, has been added to <a
href="http://metazoa.ensembl.org/index.html">Ensembl </a><br>
<a href="http://metazoa.ensembl.org/index.html">Metazoa</a><em>. </em>The
<i>Anopheles gambiae </i>gene set has also been updated to reflect the
latest <a href="http://www.vectorbase.org/">Vectorbase</a> release. <em></em>
